Eddie Howe wants to build Newcastle’s team around 24-year-old, does not want to sell him

Eddie Howe has decided he wants to build his Newcastle United team around one key player who has been attracting some interest in January.

Howe will not be tempted to sell Alexander Isak despite rumours that the club will have to move on one of their star players to raise funds for more signings.

A report from The Athletic has claimed that the 46-year-old head coach is determined to keep the Swedish striker and look to build around him in the summer and beyond.

Howe believes Isak is the jewel in Newcastle’s future crown

The team isn’t playing to their full capabilities right now with their injuries still piling up and fatigue from the last month’s hectic schedule still taking its toll.

But this is a very talented squad and one that is only going to be improved upon by bringing in more quality players ideally in the summer when they receive more funds from Champions League qualification and commercial deals.

It’s believed that Howe wants Isak to be the star of that future Newcastle team as one of the most exciting and talented strikers in world football right now, perhaps only behind Erling Haaland.

Isak has been performing at a very high level as of late, scoring four in his last three, after returning from another injury scare which kept him out of a handful of games. If Howe can keep him fit for the rest of the season, there’s no telling how good he could be.

In the modern era, quality strikers are so difficult to come by and that means you have to pay a lot of money to get the best ones to sign for your club.

Isak is certainly one of the most promising talents if not already one of the best goalscorers in football having already reached double figures in the Premier League after playing just 16 games.

Should Newcastle eventually lose the 24-year-old it will likely be for a huge fee as the attacker has everything you want in a quality forward and he could be leading the line for one of Europe’s elite for the next decade.

But that’s a scenario Howe would like to avoid if he can as Newcastle look to become of football’s powerhouses in the not too distant future.
