Harvey Barnes had an afternoon to forget as Newcastle United advanced in the FA Cup.
The 27-year-old was one of nine Toon changes, as Eddie Howe heavily rotated for the game against League Two Bromley.
It almost did not pay off, as Newcastle United fell behind early. Fortunately, the Magpies got their act together and Newcastle beat Bromley 3-1 to advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
However, Harvey Barnes was barely involved in the win. He started on the left of attack, but struggled to have much of an impact.
He was then withdrawn at half-time, as he was replaced by Anthony Gordon.

Eddie Howe explains Harvey Barnes decision
It was part of a double substitution, as Bruno Guimaraes also came on for Joelinton.
But while Eddie Howe always planned to swap the Brazilians after 45 minutes, the Newcastle United manager has told the Athletic that the Barnes substitution was enforced.
“Harvey wasn’t planned,” he said.
“He felt a muscle problem. We had to withdraw him.”
Barnes injury comes at a bad time for Newcastle United
The decision to take Barnes off had nothing to do with his performance. It was because of a muscle problem, which is a concern.
It remains to be seen how long Barnes will be out of action for, but this news is certainly an issue ahead of two more games this week.

Newcastle United need all the depth they can get, particularly in attack.
But with Barnes possibly now injured, it puts even more pressure on Anthony Gordon to remain fit. Not only that, but the 23-year-old may no longer have a direct replacement.
It is a blow for Newcastle, and highlights the lack of depth they have in the final third. Depending on the severity of this injury, it could impact Miguel Almiron’s future. Newcastle are looking to sell Almiron, but they might suddenly be forced to keep him.
This comes in a month that Newcastle United can sign reinforcements. Sadly, Newcastle must sell before they buy due to PSR, which means it is highly unlikely that another winger arrives at St James’ Park.
