Confidence is a massive thing in football, and Eddie Howe believes that one of his Newcastle United players suddenly has so much more after a tough start to the campaign.

Newcastle United‘s most confident player right now is Alexander Isak, with the 24-year-old absolutely on fire in front of goal. He has scored 23 goals in all competitions, and has a chance of winning the Premier League Golden Boot.

Another Toon player who is never shy of confidence is Bruno Guimaraes. He never hides or plays within himself, showcasing a level of belief in his own ability that makes him one of the best midfielders in Europe.

But not every Newcastle United player can have the confidence of Bruno. Some have to build it up, and that is easier said than done.

However, there is no doubt that Lewis Hall suddenly looks much more comfortable in a black and white shirt. The £28million man is beginning to play regularly, and no longer looks like a player who Eddie Howe can’t trust defensively.

The 19-year-old is playing really well right now, much to the delight of his manager.

Eddie Howe comments on Lewis Hall’s recent form

Ahead of Newcastle’s game against Burnley, Howe spoke to the media. He was asked about Hall’s recent form.

“I think he’s doing really well at the moment,” he said.

“I think he’s got renewed confidence from playing and being involved, which only that involvement can give you. His game has come on, on the back of that.

“I thought we saw really good signs from him against Sheffield United. He used the ball really well. Did well with the players around him, building those relationships is always difficult when you come into the team.

“I’m really happy with him at the moment.”

Lewis Hall now hinting towards a bright future at St James’ Park

It has been great to see Lewis Hall come into his own in recent weeks. Injuries have given him an opportunity, and he has certainly taken it. Howe suddenly seems to be less fearful of throwing Hall in at the deep end, and he has responded with some solid displays.

Hall will hope to do well again on Saturday, as he is likely to retain his place in the Newcastle starting XI for the game against Burnley. It will be a tough match for the Magpies, especially with Fabian Schar ruled out due to injury.

But Newcastle have other players who are in form, one of which is Hall. He appears to be building up an understanding with Elliot Anderson and Anthony Gordon down that left flank, which should serve as a glimpse into the future.

The youngster has had a lot of doubters during his debut season on Tyneside, with many people questioning the deal. But now Hall has silenced the critics to some extent, and is proving that he really does have the potential to be Newcastle’s long-term left-back.

He still has a long way to go, but he is certainly going in the right direction now and it is great to see him finally playing with confidence.
