Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe has shown up on another Premier League club’s shortlist as they continue to look for a new manager.
Howe has been a revelation for Newcastle fans who have been enjoying the football over the last ocuple of years for the first time in decades.
A new report from The Athletic has claimed that Howe could be considered as a potential candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool because of his impressive showing at Newcastle.
Howe’s data at Newcastle is very impressive
Liverpool suffered a huge blow when Klopp announced that he would be leaving at the end of the season and now they’ve got a huge task on their hands to find his successor who will have big shoes to fill.
Prior to hiring the German coach back in 2015, it’s understood that Liverpool had actually made contact with Howe regarding the vacant position left by Brendan Rodgers.
That was, of course, nine years ago now and their expectations have risen dramatically having won both the Premier League and Champions League, but they are clearly admirers of Howe.
The 46-year-old has done a very good job at Newcastle where he dragged them from relegation candidates to playing amongst Europe’s elite in just 18 months and he’s been a level-headed figure to have steady the ship at difficult times.

Howe is still unlikely to leave this summer
With Liverpool’s European pedigree and their potential to win the league this season they’ll be wanting to hire a big name manager in the summer who can continue the work Klopp has done.
Howe’s data is very impressive but he’s done little to show that he can manage a huge club to winning trophies every season, which is exactly what the Merseyside club will be after.
Howe is also very comfortable at Newcastle at the minute with the club showing their full support in the 46-year-old even if their form has taken a hit as of late.
The head coach is now preparing for a very busy summer, especially with Dan Ashworth leaving, and Newcastle will be hoping that they have his full attention in what will be a significant window.
