Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has provided a fresh update on when Callum Wilson will return from injury.
The 32-year-old has not played a single minute of football for Newcastle United this season, while he also missed every pre-season game over the summer.
Having reported for duty at the start of pre-season, Callum Wilson suffered a back injury.
It has proven to be a major setback for Newcastle’s number nine, who was heavily linked with a move away from St James’ Park during the summer.
But he has stayed put, and will be desperate to compete with Alexander Isak for a place in the starting XI. However, he is currently not able to do that.
What was previously said about Callum Wilson and his fitness
At the beginning of the campaign, Eddie Howe stated that Wilson would miss Newcastle’s first few games.

The hope was that he would be back after the September international break, but that did not prove to be the case.
The Newcastle United manager spoke about the £20million man again last week, with Howe admitting that Wilson was behind schedule. However, he did not say that the forward had suffered a setback.
Eddie Howe’s fresh update on Callum Wilson injury
Howe has now spoke about Wilson again, as he addressed the media ahead of Newcastle United’s Premier League clash with Fulham.
The Toon boss has shared an update on when Wilson will be back, and it is not good news.
“Callum won’t make the game [against Fulham],” he told the Athletic.
“We’re looking and hoping to have him back in full training for the international break, to be ready hopefully for the games afterwards.”
How many more Newcastle games Wilson will miss
Howe has stated that Wilson will not be back until after the October international break.
That means he will miss four more Newcastle games, including next week’s Carabao Cup trip to Wimbledon.
He will also miss away trips to Fulham and Everton, with a home game against champions Manchester City sandwiched in between.

These are the games that it looks like Wilson will definitely miss. However, there are no guarantees that he will return immediately after the October international break.
That puts Newcastle’s other forwards under pressure. Isak is already a doubt to face Fulham with a toe injury, having scored just once for the Magpies this season.
Elsewhere, Will Osula has not been trusted to make his Newcastle debut after his £10million arrival from Sheffield United.
The other option is Anthony Gordon, with the 23-year-old capable of playing through the middle despite actually being a winger. If Isak is unavailable this weekend, Gordon will likely play up front for Newcastle against Fulham.
