The injury problems keep on mounting for Newcastle United.
Saturday’s win over Arsenal has been billed as a huge moment for Eddie Howe by pundit Gary Neville. Despite a bruising week that also saw a heavily-rotated Newcastle beat Manchester United, they outfought the Gunners to claim a vital three points.
To keep racking up the statement victories while dealing with such a lengthy injury list really is some achievement. Alexander Isak and Sven Botman are the headline names missing, while Sandro Tonali is another big absence for very different reasons.
Now, another first-team star has been struck down.
Newcastle injuries: Eddie Howe confirms Dan Burn is worried
Indeed, speaking after the win over the Gunners, Howe confirmed Dan Burn was worried about the back problem that forced him off him at half-time.
According to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, Howe said the 31-year-old is in a “lot of pain” and that Burn is “worried about it”.

Newcastle injury latest: Huge chance for Tino Livramento
With Matt Targett also injured, the options at left-back are a little light.
Burn has been a key presence under Howe since his £13m move from Brighton in January 2022 and replacing him will be difficult.
Still, Tino Livramento continues to impress.
Solid against Gabriel Martinelli when he replaced Burn and Kieran Trippier duly moved over to left-back, the former Southampton defender was also impressive at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup.
That followed a very good performance against Manchester City in the previous round, so the 20-year-old is certainly proving himself against some big name opposition.
With that in mind, perhaps deploying Trippier at left-back at Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday is not as worrisome a prospect as first thought. With Livramento in such good form, having them both on the pitch can hardly be a bad thing.
