Eddie Howe has delivered a warning to the rest of the Premier League, as he thinks there is a lot more to come from Miguel Almiron.
The 28-year-old was Newcastle United’s hero last week. He scored twice in the 4-1 win over Fulham, including an outrageous volley that should win him Goal of the Month.
Almiron has now scored three times already this season, meaning he is one goal shy of his best ever tally in the Premier League.
That shows how well he has started this season, but also sums up his struggles in black and white. The Paraguayan has had a frustrating career on Tyneside, but we could soon see the best of him.
Howe is starting to get a tune out of Almiron, and has spoke about him ahead of the game against Brentford.

Howe on Almiron’s form
The Newcastle boss has spoke to the press ahead of this afternoon’s clash with the Bees, and was asked about Almiron.
“I’d say every player is a confidence player but may be some more than others,” Howe said.
“I think Miggy is mentally very strong. When you look back at his career and the challenges that he’s faced, with the different countries he has played in, full credit to him for that journey.
“He arrives here now, mentally, in the best place he’s ever been. Certainly during his pre-season form, I thought he was outstanding. He’s taken that now into the earlier part of the season and I think there’s a lot more to come.
“I’m excited by what he can deliver but, even when he’s not scoring, he still delivers so much for the team that maybe goes unnoticed.”
Howe’s comments are very encouraging
The fact Howe thinks there is more to come from Almiron is very exciting. Fans love the number 24, with his attitude and endeavour making him a fan favourite.
He was excellent during pre-season, and appears to be carrying on his form into the Premier League. His two goals last week were excellent – both for different reasons.
Now we need to see Almiron add consistency to his game. That is what will take his Newcastle career to the next level.
What’s most exciting is seeing how he has grown into his role on the right wing. He really struggled there in the past under Steve Bruce, but now Howe is proving that he can play in that position.
Almiron’s combinations with Bruno Guimaraes are exceptional, and he is getting into dangerous positions more than he ever has in a Newcastle shirt.
If he can carry on this form for the rest of the season, there will be less need for serious investment in his position. Newcastle will instead be looking for competition for Almiron, rather than a replacement.
