Garang Kuol has officially left Newcastle United for the second time, joining FC Volendam on loan for the 2023/24 season.

After a disappointing spell at Hearts, Newcastle are hoping that the 18-year-old is much more successful in the Eredivisie.

The Magpies have sent Kuol to Volendam as they believe the Dutch top flight is a great environment for developing young talent. That is exactly what he needs, as he is a player who has got a huge amount of potential and lot of hype surrounding him.

That hype possibly hindered him in Scotland. Fans followed his every move at Hearts, although that was not difficult considering how little Kuol played north of the border.

This loan spell will be much more low key, but it will hopefully have a greater impact on the forward’s development.

While some people at the club were reportedly disappointed with Kuol’s loan spell at Hearts, he is still a talented player with a huge future ahead of him. And that is why Volendam were very keen to take him on loan for the year.

Volendam director delighted to sign Garang Kuol

Following the announcement of his loan deal, FC Volendam technical director Jasper van Leeuwen spoke to their official website. He expressed how happy he was to welcome Kuol to the club.

“Garang has been high on our list for a long time, and now it was time for us to find a good solution with Newcastle,” he said

“He is a very talented attacker who can play in multiple positions and add things to our game. Especially his depth and directness to the goal are weapons that we can use well. Garang is technically skilled and fast, and also has an eye for his fellow players.

“All in all, we are very happy with his arrival and we look forward to another good development process.”

Newcastle need ‘very talented’ teen to shine

Hopefully it proves to be the perfect place for the forward to develop, as he looks to get more senior minutes under his belt.

Despite all the hype, Kuol still does not have a lot of experience. He was more of an impact player at Central Coast Mariners, having burst onto the scene a few months before he signed for Newcastle.

Minutes weren’t forthcoming at Hearts, but hopefully it will be a different story at Volendam. They seem very happy to have him, so will surely have all intentions of playing him regularly.

This will be an important year for Kuol, and hopefully he seizes this opportunity in the Eredivisie.
