Newcastle United assistant manager Jason Tindall received a rather bizarre booking during the 2-1 win over Wolves.
In an attempt to inject some pace into Newcastle’s play in the second half, Jason Tindall left the technical area to collect a ball for a throw-in.
Referee Chris Kavanagh marched over to the touchline and booked Tindall for picking up a match ball from a cone on the sidelines.
Newcastle were 1-0 down at the time to Mario Lemina’s goal, although Eddie Howe and Tindall’s inspired changes at half-time ended up paying off and Newcastle completed a comeback.
Fabian Schar drew the Magpies level at Molineux with a deflected strike from range, before Harvey Barnes netted the winner with a superb curling effort just five minutes later.

Dermot Gallagher explains Jason Tindall booking
There were a few eyebrows raised when Tindall was booked with many left confused about what he did wrong.
As it turns out, rules state that only players are allowed to pick up a ball from the cones, hence why Kavanagh branded a yellow card.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Ref Watch, former Premier League official Dermot Gallagher said: “Only the players can get the players off the cones. Jason wanted to get it in play very quickly.”
However, Gallagher believes Tindall actually helped out Joe Willock: “What I would say is he’s actually done this player [Willock] a favour as it’s the most blatant foul throw ever!” said Gallagher.
Gallagher also gave his view on Newcastle’s penalty shout after Craig Dawson appeared to handle the ball in the box, but he insists that the right decision was made.
“If you watch, it comes off his own body, bounces up, hits his arm. The arm is where you would expect it to be when making that challenge. That’s a far better interpretation of the rules; we’re in a far better position this year,” he said.
Joe Willock impressed against Wolves
Schar and Barnes have hogged the headlines after Newcastle’s comeback, but Willock also deserves a lot of credit for his impact from the bench.
He was one of Howe’s three changes at the break, coming on to replace Joelinton, and Willock impressed in midfield with his relentless running and ability to carry the ball up the pitch.
The 25-year-old, who was signed by Newcastle for £25m in 2021, has thrown his name into the hat for a starting spot for the trip to Fulham next week.

The Magpies looked much more dangerous with Willock in the side and he injects energy and pace into the midfield better than any other option in the squad.
