Newcastle United are looking to build on their recent run of good form when they visit Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon.
Back-to-back wins over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup and Arsenal in the Premier League last season have got Eddie Howe’s side back on track after they five league matches without a win.
Sunday’s trip to the City Ground will see them face this season’s surprise package, as Nuno’s Forest side will begin the weekend sitting third in the table, having lost just one of their ten matches in the top flight so far this term.
Key to Forest’s impressive early-season form have been the performances of former Newcastle duo Chris Wood and Elliot Anderson. Forward Wood has netted eight times already this season, while Anderson has been pulling the strings for Forest since his summer move.

David Moyes and Roy Keane disagree on Forest v Newcastle prediction
Both sides will be desperate to go into the international break on the back of a victory, but speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, former West Ham boss David Moyes went against former Forest midfielder Roy Keane and ex-Arsenal striker Ian Wright in his assessment of how the action will pan out.
“There’s always a mad result at the weekend,” Keane said as the panel made their predictions for the match.
“Forest can’t keep this run going,” he added, before opting for either a 1-1 or 2-2 draw, which Wright agreed with.
“2-2, it’s going to be a draw,” said the former England striker.
Moyes, however, went against the grain, saying: “I think 3-1 Newcastle”.
Moyes also had Jill Scott in his corner, as she said; You know what, though, Newcastle looked good the other day. I think Newcastle could get a win.”
Will Chris Wood and Elliot Anderson come back to haunt Newcastle?
All eyes will be on the former Newcastle pair that are lining up for Forest. Anderson has never faced his former side before, but Eddie Howe will be only too aware of the fact that Wood plundered a hat-trick against the Magpies when Forest claimed a 3-1 win at St James’ Park in the Premier League last season.

Wood sat out the return fixture with a hamstring injury, but his during his career he has five goals and one assist against the Magpies in the 13 times he has faced them.
Premier League table bunching up
A win for Newcastle would also see Howe’s men pull within a point of Forest in what is an extremely bunch-up top half of the table.

The Magpies currently sit 11th in the Premier League, but are only three points off fourth-placed Chelsea, who host Arsenal in Sunday’s late game.
Newcastle have a favourable upcoming schedule and will hope that after a stuttering start, they can turn the screw when it comes to gatecrashing the European places.
