Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent have clashed when debating if Newcastle United are a better team than Manchester United ahead of their Premier League fixture this weekend.
Both teams are coming off the back of disappointing draws in the Champions League during the week and will looking to get back on track on Saturday night in the Premier League.
On talkSPORT, Darren Bent made the claim that Newcastle were one of six teams who look like a better team than Man United right now, but Andy Goldstein was having none of it.
Newcastle look the better team
Aside from the fact that Newcastle very recently beat Man United in the Carabao Cup, Newcastle have also looked more threatening and more impressive in recent weeks even if they haven’t matched their opponents results.
Man United have been enjoying a relatively easy fixture list as of late, playing Fulham, Luton, Everton and Sheffield United in four of their last five league games while Newcastle have faced both Arsenal and Chelsea in that period coming away with two victories.
Newcastle also have a much tougher Champions League group and yet are holding their own and are still in with a chance of finishing in the top two with one game remaining.
Darren Bent made this argument to Andy Goldstein, but the Man United-supporting presenter refused to accept it.
On talkSPORT, Bent said: “I can name six teams that are better than Man United right now: City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle-”
To which Goldstein interrupted: “I don’t think they do.”
Bent then confirmed: “Newcastle look better than you.”
Goldstein added: “No, they don’t.”

Newcastle vs Man United could define a season
Erik ten Hag is already under a lot of pressure to get back into the top four and to get out of the Champions League group stage, so a defeat on Saturday which could leave them in eighth would be a huge blow to their confidence.
Newcastle on the other hand are not under as much pressure given that few expected them to make top four so early on, but a defeat for them would create a bit of a mountain to climb considering top four are already five points ahead of them at this stage.
Momentum is certainly in the favour of Newcastle who will feel hard done by after PSG’s controversial penalty on Tuesday night, but the long injury list means that the players are likely to be very tired after they all had to play the full 90.
Hopefully for Eddie Howe he can get his squad to dig deep enough to come up with a result, especially with Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon looking so fatigue against PSG.
