Newcastle United have done a lot of good business since the takeover, even if every transfer did not bear fruit straight away.
Lewis Hall is the biggest example of that. His £28million move to Newcastle United was widely criticised, but he is now standing out in a black and white shirt.
The 20-year-old is enjoying a strong start to the season, with Hall improving massively since joining Newcastle.
While £28million might still seem like a lot of money, he is well on his way to proving he was worth that figure.
Newcastle spent £40million on Anthony Gordon

Newcastle United signed Anthony Gordon for even more than that, with the winger arriving from Everton in January 2023 for an initial £40million.
It was a lot of money to spend on a winger who had sometimes flattered to deceive in the final third. During his Everton career, Gordon managed just seven goals and eight assists in 78 games.
But Newcastle believed in his potential, and they were right to do that. He has become a key player at St James’ Park, with Gordon boasting 15 goals and 11 assists in 74 Newcastle appearances.
Danny Murphy says he was right about Anthony Gordon fee
On the back of Gordon signing a new contract with Newcastle, TalkSPORT have reflected on the 23-year-old’s time on Tyneside so far.
Danny Murphy believes he has now been proven right about the winger, after suggesting in 2023 that Gordon was well worth the £40million that Newcastle were paying for him.
“I think he’s doing a very good job,” he said.
“He’s improving quickly. I saw him at Everton and a lot of people scoffed at the amount Newcastle paid for him. There was a lot of people saying that was over the top and he’s not that good.
“I sat on here more than once and said that could be a snip. I saw the fire in his belly. He’s quick, goes past people and can score a goal.”
Gordon’s value will have increased thanks to Newcastle form
Newcastle spent £40million on Gordon, buying a player who was probably not good enough to justify that fee at the time, but had the potential to massively exceed it.
The England international has been outstanding at St James’ Park, and would now cost way more than £40million – especially now that he has signed a new long-term contract with the Magpies.
Even before this deal, his value had nearly doubled. Newcastle wanted £75million for Gordon in the summer, when it looked like he could move to Liverpool to solve the Magpies’ PSR problems.
Fortunately for Newcastle, they found another way to comply with PSR. That meant that Gordon remained at St James’ Park, even if it did result in an uncomfortable few months before signing this new contract.
Murphy thinks Gordon would have signed for Liverpool
But the Liverpool rumours were unsettling. It was even reported that Gordon’s head was turned by Liverpool’s interest.
He has now committed his future to Newcastle, showcasing his desire to continue playing in the North East.
However, Danny Murphy has suggested that Gordon would have signed for Liverpool had he been given the chance.
“Of course he’s going to say nice things [about Newcastle United], he’s just signed a whopping new deal,” he said.
“There were rumours of him going to Liverpool before the season started. I think he would have jumped at that opportunity. He’s a Liverpool fan, Steven Gerrard was his idol growing up.”
