Transfer insider Graeme Bailey has suggested that Newcastle United could be involved in a five-way Premier League tussle for Juventus star Adrien Rabiot this summer.
As covered by TEAMTalk, Bailey has said: “Adrien Rabiot’s situation is fascinating, he is a very interesting option for a lot of clubs.
“He gets a lot of criticism from fans, mainly on-line, due to his pay packet – which is not his fault. But within the game he is very highly thought of.
Newcastle are among five top Premier League teams tracking Rabiot
“Manchester United went for him in January and they remain firmly in the mix, as do Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle – if he does indeed have the desire to move, he will not be short of interest.
“But that is one of the main issues here, all the interested parties in England are not 100% convinced that he wants to leave Italy or at the very least that he wants to play in the Premier League.

“Staying at Juventus is a realistic option, but he could be one of the best Bosman frees this summer.”
Newcastle have been keeping an eye on the Rabiot situation for a while and despite a recent report claiming that Juventus were confident of keeping hold of the ‘excellent‘ World Cup star, we know that things are never that straight-forward in football.
As Graeme Bailey pointed out, Newcastle are in some esteemed company when it comes to tracking Rabiot with their closest league rivals all interested in picking up the 27-year-old midfielder when his contract expires this summer.
Juventus won’t give up on Rabiot so easily
Rabiot has scored seven goals and provided three assists in 23 Serie A appearances for Juventus this season as well as two more goals and an assist in nine European outings. It makes sense that The Old Lady will be wanting to ensure that the contract situation is resolved before other clubs come into play.
If Juventus fail to offer suitable terms it’s going to be a very interesting summer for the French international with five of the Premier League’s top sides looking to battle it for his signature.
Each team can offer him a fantastic partner to play alongside, a realistic opportunity of playing European football and a shot of silverware. Well, maybe not Tottenham, especially given how things just keep going from bad to worse for them behind the scenes at the moment.
Newcastle have Bruno Guimaraes who will be a draw for any player looking to make a move to the Magpies. We also have the most exciting project in world football right now and are already ahead of schedule in that regard. It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that we can win this race.
