Chris Wood’s move to Newcastle United has been confirmed and he will be able to play against Watford in Saturday’s huge game.

He took to Instagram to send a message to the supporters after a crazy couple of days for the New Zealand international, who has swapped Turf Moor for St James’ Park.

It is his first message to the fans since signing on the dotted line, putting pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year contract with the Magpies.

He has also told the club’s official website: “This is a very exciting opportunity for me and I’m delighted to be a Newcastle United player.

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

“I have played at St. James’ Park a few times and it’s an amazing place, so to have the chance to represent this club with those incredible supporters behind me and my team-mates is very special.

“The club and manager have been first class during this process, and I really can’t wait to get onto the pitch and repay the faith they have in me, especially with a vital part of the season ahead of us.”

Wood is a full-blooded striker who has given his all for Burnley and impressed for Leeds United before that. The fans should take to him straight away.

And Eddie Howe now has a man capable of hitting the back of the net on a regular basis as he looks to keep his side clear of the drop.

He may form a strong partnership with Callum Wilson when the former Bournemouth man is back fit, but for now he needs to take on the goalscoring mantle on his own.

Wood’s arrival should give Newcastle’s season another shot in the arm after the arrival of Kieran Trippier and he is clearly keen to get started.
