Chris Sutton predicts who will win between Newcastle United and Wolves as ‘bubble burst’ claim is made

Chris Sutton is very confident with his prediction for Newcastle United vs Wolves.

The Magpies are at home once again, as they prepare for their second of three games at St James’ Park within seven days.

Newcastle United face Wolves in the Premier League, as they aim to make it nine wins in a row.

There is an injury concern though, with Harvey Barnes ruled out. The winger has picked up a muscle problem and will be out of action for a month.

While that is a blow, it should not change the fact that Newcastle are favourites to pick up all three points on Wednesday night.

Paul Merson thinks Newcastle will beat Wolves, and Chris Sutton agrees.

The former Blackburn Rovers striker has told BBC Sport that he thinks Newcastle will be victorious, describing his prediction as ‘pretty straightforward’.

“This is pretty straightforward as far as predictions go,” he said.

“Newcastle are on for a domestic Treble this season – well, on current form anyway – and I don’t see their eight-game winning streak stopping here.

“Wolves had made a good start under new boss Vitor Pereira but they had their bubble burst by Nottingham Forest in their last league game, and I don’t see them dealing with the Magpies’ firepower.

“Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon have been great and Jacob Murphy is absolutely flying. I am really pleased for Murphy because a lot of people forget about him – but I haven’t, I have got him in my Fantasy team.”

Wolves’ results since changing manager

When Newcastle United beat Wolves in September, Gary O’Neil was their manager.

He has since been replaced, with Vitor Pereira now in the dugout at Molineux.

Eddie Howe will not take Pereira’s side lightly, and has been very complimentary about the new Wolves boss.

“Vitor Pereira has connected with the players very quickly, I think you can see that,” he said.

“They’re playing with a confidence, that shows with their form. They look a settled team and a clear identity. They will be very dangerous opponents, they have some very good players.”

The 56-year-old has certainly had an impact since his arrival, with Wolves picking up seven points from a possible 12. He won his first two games, beating Leicester City and Manchester United.

However, Chris Sutton has suggested that Pereira’s bubble has now burst, with Wolves losing 3-0 to Nottingham Forest.

That seems a bit of a stretch, as Forest are playing incredibly well this season. But so are Newcastle, and Toon fans will fancy their chances on Wednesday night.
