Chris Sutton believes Newcastle United have a concern heading into Saturday afternoon’s game against Burnley.
The Magpies return to Premier League action after their Carabao Cup heroics. Eddie Howe’s side produced a shock on Wednesday night, knocking Manchester City out of the cup thanks to Alexander Isak’s goal.
However, the 24-year-old was forced off during the game with an injury, leading to Toon fans sweating over his fitness ahead of Burnley.
Isak admitted after the game that he thought he was okay, but we await official confirmation from Howe when he speaks to the press on Friday morning.
Even if Isak is injured, Newcastle will feel like they have enough to get a result against Burnley. The Clarets are yet to win this season, despite storming the Championship last year.
This weekend they come up against a rampant Newcastle side that is in fine form, and Chris Sutton is expecting another convincing win for the Magpies.
Chris Sutton predicts Newcastle will win against Burnley
As part of his weekly Premier League predictions for BBC Sport, Sutton has backed Newcastle to beat Burnley 4-0 at St James’ Park on Saturday.
“Newcastle made a slow start to the season but are up and running now after hitting eight goals against Sheffield United, and they played well in the second half of their Carabao Cup win over Manchester City too,” he wrote.
“The injury to Harvey Barnes is a blow and Alexander Isak’s fitness is also a concern after he came off against City on Wednesday night, but Eddie Howe’s side will still be confident of racking up another good result here, against winless Burnley.
“The way the Magpies are playing makes me think this will be a long afternoon for the Clarets, who are always brave going forward but are not finding it easy to score goals in the Premier League. I think Newcastle could swarm them, and get another big win.”
Sutton has a lot of confidence in Newcastle
After an 8-0 win and beating Manchester City, it is no surprise that Sutton has a lot of faith in Newcastle.
He believes that they could blow Burnley away, regardless of whether or not Isak is fit to feature.
Eddie Howe will rotate again, but he will be enthused by the fact that he has so many players performing well at the moment. The rotation is working, and it is helping him get even more out of his squad.
But with the Champions League clash with PSG on Wednesday night looming, Howe will be keen to ensure eyes do not wander towards that challenge.
It is one game at a time for Newcastle, who go into the game against Burnley as massive favourites.
