Newcastle United look set to have a busy end to the January transfer window.
Fans of Newcastle United are bound to feel disheartened at the lack of arrivals to the club in the past month.
The focus for sporting director Paul Mitchell has been outgoings due to struggles with PSR. Newcastle have tried to be active in the transfer market, though. It is believed that Newcastle were the frontrunner to sign Abdukodir Khusanov before he signed for Manchester City.
Mitchell also wanted Vitor Reis, but PSR made the deal difficult. From an outgoing perspective, it looks like it will be an important final few days for the club due to several Newcastle players being linked with a move away.
One particular player who could still leave is Lloyd Kelly who has had interest from clubs across Europe. Newcastle knocked back bids from Fenerbahce and Juventus for Kelly who only joined the club in the summer.
While his future at the club is still up in the air, a recent report has now claimed that two more clubs in Europe have entered the race to sign the 26-year-old.

Borussia Dortmund and Marseille eye Lloyd Kelly move
It came as a surprise to Newcastle fans that Kelly was linked with a move away so soon after joining. The defender has found it hard for game time so far this season, only making nine appearances in the Premier League.
Now, according to L’Equipe, both Borussia Dortmund and Marseille are interested in signing Kelly before the January deadline.
The report states that they are two of three clubs still competing to sign Kelly – the third being Juventus who have seemingly not given up on signing him despite the previous rejected approach.
While a permanent move away may not be possible, the report claims that Kelly could leave for Marseille or Champions League finalists Dortmund on loan before the transfer window closes on Sunday.
It is believed that Kelly is open to leave Newcastle in January as he is not happy with his game time.
How does Newcastle United feel about selling Lloyd Kelly
While there has been many rumblings over Kelly’s Newcastle future, it does not look likely that he will leave the club in January.
Kelly is contracted to Newcastle until 2029 – a large bid would need to be placed if he were to leave on a permanent deal.
Internally, it is believed that Newcastle are against selling Kelly despite his lack of involvement in Eddie Howe’s squads.
The 26-year-old has only played one minute of Premier League football since the end of November – a very late substitute appearance in the Magpies win against Tottenham earlier in January.
Kelly has enjoyed run-outs in the domestic competitions, playing three of Newcastle’s five Carabao Cup games and playing all 90 minutes in the FA Cup against Bromley.
