Callum Wilson and Michail Antonio have sung the praises of Joelinton on the BBC’s Footballer’s Football Podcast.
The Brazilian continued his impressive renaissance with another impressive performance against Antonio’s West Ham in Saturday’s 1-1 draw.
Antonio said he was surprised by how good Joelinton was and Wilson hailed him as Newcastle’s player of the season so far.

“He’s a joke!” said Wilson of Joelinton. “At the minute, he’s our player of the season, the way Eddie’s transformed him. He’s been outstanding the last eight weeks. He looks a totally different player.
“He was playing out wide in Germany and now he’s inside a little bit more. He’s unreal, he’s unplayable. And he’s still so young as well. Now he should get the plaudits he deserves. What a player.”
Antonio added: “Do you know who shocked me, who I’m very impressed with? Joelinton. You guys signed him for £40 million as a number nine but I think he’s found his position.
“Moving him inside, I was waiting for a mistake because you can’t gamble as a midfielder. But everything he did was assured; he was quality.”

Joelinton deserves so much credit not just for his performances but also for his mental strength for coming through a really tough period where he was getting criticised.
It is not his fault that he was signed as a striker for so much money when he clearly isn’t one but he has kept his head down and is shining now.
That is not easy at all and of course Eddie Howe also needs some praise for sticking with him in midfield and everyone is getting the rewards now.
