Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson has admitted that he feels ‘sorry’ for Jadon Sancho.

Manchester United winger Sancho has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford. The 23-year-old was dropped by Erik ten Hag for performing poorly in training, leading to Sancho hitting back at the manager on social media.

Sancho is now training on his own away from his Man United teammates, who have now lost three games on the bounce.

It is a difficult situation for the England international, and now Newcastle‘s Callum Wilson has given his verdict on what is going on at Old Trafford.

Callum Wilson speaks out on the Jadon Sancho situation

On the latest episode of The Footballer’s Football Podcast, Wilson gave his opinion on what has happened to Sancho at Manchester United. The Toon striker knows Sancho, having played alongside him for England.

“I feel sorry for Jadon, I know Jadon personally,” he said.

“He’s a top top player and he’s come to the Premier League and he’s found it difficult so far.

“But do you need an arm round you? Sometimes people go the opposite way and think that screaming and shouting at someone gets the best out of them. Someone like myself, that might be the case. But someone else, it might not be the case. They might just need an arm round, get filled with confidence and get the best out of them.”

Journalist hinted that Newcastle could move for Sancho

It is no surprise to hear that Wilson feels sorry for Sancho. Most footballers probably feel the same.

It is difficult not to have sympathy for the winger, even if we do not know the finer details of what has gone on behind the scenes at Manchester United.

As Wilson says, he is a top player who has simply struggled in the Premier League. Sancho was a superstar at Borussia Dortmund, but it just has not worked out for him at Man United.

Now it is being rumoured that he will leave the Red Devils, with St James’ Park mentioned as a possible destination.

The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope recently stated that he thinks Sancho will be on Newcastle’s radar, although his wages would surely be an issue.

Given Eddie Howe’s reputation for developing and improving players, you have to imagine he would be able to get Sancho back to his best, unlike Erik ten Hag who appears to have turned his back on the £73million man.
