Callum Wilson is ‘looking forward’ to facing Fulham on Saturday with the striker fit to return for Newcastle.
The 30-year-old hasn’t been seen since the 3-3 draw with Manchester City. Wilson scored on that day, but was forced off with a hamstring injury.
The Magpies’ number nine has missed every game since, and his injury forced the club to splash out on Alexander Isak.
However, the club record signing is now injured himself. That makes it vital that Wilson is in contention to play at Craven Cottage this weekend, with Eddie Howe desperate for a win.
It has been reported that the 30-year-old will be fit to start against Fulham, and now the man himself has commented on his fitness.

Callum Wilson ‘available’ to return on Saturday
Wilson has appeared on the latest episode of the Footballer’s Football Podcast alongside Michail Antonio. He discussed Newcastle’s next game and his imminent return from injury.
“We have Fulham on Saturday, which is away – looking forward to that one,” he said.
“I have worked hard to get to a point where I’m available for selection. I’ll be working hard this week in training and then we’ll see where we are at.”
Wilson being fit is perfect timing
Newcastle have had plenty of injury woes over the past month. The international break has not been kind either, with Chris Wood also picking up a problem alongside Isak.
It leaves Newcastle light in attack, with Howe’s side currently struggling for goals. Luckily, Wilson is set to return at the perfect time.
This weekend’s game against Fulham will be incredibly tough, but Toon fans will be feeling much more confident if Wilson is named in the starting XI.
The £20million signing knows how to score goals, and can be a nightmare for defenders. He has the added pressure of the World Cup, with Wilson still hoping to be in the England squad.
His return is a welcome one, but there will be fear that he is struck down by injury again. If that does happen, there will be huge concern on Tyneside. Isak is set to miss several games, while the extent of Wood’s injury is unknown.
Hopefully Wilson shines on his Newcastle return and is able to enjoy a lengthy run in Howe’s starting lineup and remain injury free.
