‘But you’re not’: Anthony Gordon mocks Callum Wilson in brilliant Newcastle clip

Anthony Gordon certainly is not shy, and he was not afraid to put Callum Wilson in his place during a video from Newcastle United’s pre-season trip to America.

While Eddie Howe and his team are over there for the Premier League Summer Series, it has also given the players the chance to spend some time together and bond ahead of the new season.

A video on Newcastle’s official YouTube channel shows Gordon, Wilson, Paul Dummett and Mark Gillespie enjoying some games at Punch Bowl Social in Atlanta, before they sat down to answer some questions.

The four Toon players took part in a game of giant Jenga, with certain blocks having questions on for them to answer.

And one that Gillespie picked created some back and forth between number nine Wilson and man of the moment Gordon.

Anthony Gordon tells Callum Wilson how it is

The lads had to answer questions about their trip to America, while there was also a discussion about their career highlights so far. Dummett picked his Newcastle debut, while Gordon’s was as recent as the Under-21 European Championship final this summer.

But the question that caused the most debate was picked out by Gillespie.

He asked: “Who would win in a race, Wilson or Gordon?”

Dummett: “Gordon’s the third fastest in the Premier League or second fastest.”

Wilson: “If I was 22 as well…”

Gordon: “Yeah but you’re not.”

Wilson: “But if I was 22 as well I would have won.”

Gordon: “You still wouldn’t win.”

No doubt Gordon is the quickest

It is great to see the Newcastle forwards enjoying a laugh together, but there is no doubt that Gordon would win in a race between the two.

The 22-year-old is absolutely rapid, and his speed should hopefully make him a valuable weapon this season.

What makes Gordon so dangerous is that he can travel with the ball at speed. That is a difficult skill, but one that makes Gordon so challenging for defenders to stop.

It was great to see Gordon back himself in the club’s latest YouTube video. He had the confidence to tell Wilson how it is, even though he is one of the newer kids on the block.

Wilson has previously said that he has taken Gordon under his wing since he joined Newcastle, and it looks as if the 31-year-old’s confidence is rubbing off!
