Newcastle United’s work in the transfer market since the takeover has been nothing short of exceptional.
While jokes were made about the manner in which the club would spend their money when PIF initially arrived, the recruitment has propelled Newcastle back into the Champions League.
Eddie Howe’s work on the coaching field has been equally as important of course but it is hard to argue against the idea that pretty much every signing the club have made since October 2021 has worked out. And then some.
Indeed, so much so that Bruno Guimaraes has offered up a glowing verdict.

The Brazil star has perhaps been the standout of those signings.
Though hardly an unknown prior to his arrival at St James’ Park, the midfielder has developed into one of the Premier League’s leading talents in that area.
In his mid-twenties and with room to grow while also able to make an immediate impact – much like teammate Sven Botman – Guimaraes is a shining example of the PIF strategy so far.
Speaking to Charla Podcast, Guimaraes said: “What they do is pick up kids for the future. They’re picking up 21, 22-year-olds, who in about five years will be at their best, you know?
“I think that’s really cool. And another thing: you can’t spend like crazy because of financial fair play. In England it’s kind of complicated.”
Newcastle’s strategy has served them so well and it shows little sign of slowing down
The two big signings made during the last two transfer windows show PIF have little plan to change their strategy.
Anthony Gordon is 22. Sandro Tonali is 23. There is so much potentially to come from players likely to play first-team roles already next season.
With Guimaraes happy about such decisions, it seems like everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet.
