Bruno Guimaraes has now shared why he’s formed such a strong bond with one of his Newcastle United teammates.
Joelinton was in fact the best man at Bruno’s wedding and the duo are hardly ever pictured apart, whether that’s on the pitch or in training.
In an interview with the Premier League, Bruno revealed how Joelinton was the first player to help him when he joined Newcastle from Lyon back in January 2022.
Bruno says he and Joelinton are like brothers at Newcastle
Not only was Joelinton crucial in helping Bruno to settle in Newcastle so quickly, but it’s no surprise that Joelinton’s form took a huge upward turn upon the arrival of his international teammate.
The pair have really helped each other to grow and they’ve both earned themselves hero status amongst the loyal fanbase who are huge admirers of the two midfielders.
Having the Brazilians working hard in the middle of the Newcastle side just gives them that bit of flair and excitement that they would otherwise severely lack.
It’s clear when you watch them play that they’ve former a brilliant bond – they always just seem to know where the other will be at the right time, and what they are going to do next.
In the interview, Bruno said: “He’s like my brother. When I signed, I couldn’t speak one word of English, I would just say ‘daddy’ or ‘mum’.
“He helped me a lot with everything. Joe is one guy where if you ask him to do something for the club, to change position, it’s something he will do that’s just the type of guy he is.”

Newcastle duo are key to future success
If Newcastle are to have any success relative to the club in the near future, qualifying for the Champions League again or competing for the FA Cup, then both Bruno and Joelinton will be crucial.
The Magpies’ record without Bruno in the middle is absolutely terrible, but thankfully he hasn’t suffered from too many injuries since joining despite the club suffering a bit of a crisis this year.
Joelinton’s physical presence and ability to drive with the ball is also a huge miss when he’s not in the team which looks like it’s going to be the case for the rest of the month.
