Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes are together again, as the Newcastle United duo prepare to represent Brazil on the international stage.

They have not played together since Newcastle’s 4-1 win over Brighton, with Joelinton missing the final two games of the season due to injury.

However, the pair have linked up since the season came to an end. Joelinton was at Bruno’s wedding, and now the duo are getting back to business for the international break.

For the first time in his career, Joelinton has been called up to the Brazilian squad. He has never represented his country before, but now has the chance in upcoming friendlies against Guinea on June 17th and Cameroon on June 20th.

Ahead of those games, Brazil have began training in Barcelona, where they will compete in their first friendly on Saturday.

Bruno’s message to Joelinton after first Brazil training session

Brazil trained for the first time on Monday, with Joelinton linking up with his fellow countrymen for the first time ever. He has uploaded a picture from the session, being put through his paces alongside Toon teammate Bruno, Manchester United star Casemiro and Juventus defender Danilo.

In response to the image, Bruno delivered a heartfelt message to the 26-year-old midfielder.

He wrote: “You deserve it my brother.”

He certainly does. It has been a remarkable 18 months for Joelinton, who has morphed into a superstar. Eddie Howe has done wonders with him, helping turn J7 from a failing forward to a marvelous midfielder.

Joelinton played a key role in Newcastle qualifying for the Champions League, and his form has now been recognised back in Brazil. He will now look to make his debut for the Selecao this weekend.

It is incredible seeing a Newcastle player in Bruno play for Brazil – now there could be two! It just shows how much standards have gone up at St James’ Park. We have internationals from some of the top countries in the world, and there is no national team more famous than Brazil.

Good luck, Joelinton! As Bruno says, you absolutely deserve this opportunity to shine on the international stage.
