Bruno Guimaraes reacts to Kieran Trippier recording his 10th Newcastle assist this season vs Forest

Bruno Guimaraes has reacted to Kieran Trippier recording his 10th assist of the season for Newcastle United in a 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest.

No other player has got more assists in this Premier League campaign than Trippier who has been so pivotal to Newcastle’s form in the last two years.

Bruno took no time at all in responding to Trippier’s post on Instagram after what was such a hard-fought and greatly needed victory at The City Ground.

Trippier leads the way for Newcastle once again

Although he had a very difficult run of games between December and January, Trippier looks to be back to his very best after grabbing a goal and three assists in Newcastle’s last three games.

It’s no secret that the England international is a brilliant asset to have from set-pieces but there is very little opposition teams can do to stop him when he’s in this kind of form.

Newcastle’s first goal against Forest was worked beautifully into the box after a short corner to Trippier who whipped in a perfect ball to Bruno at the back post to volley into the back of the net.

As a natural leader and somebody who knows how to organise a defence, Trippier continues to be so important to the way that Newcastle defend and attack and his teammates know that oh so well.

After the game, Trippier had posted: “We showed the desire we needed to come back and get the full points. Enjoy your weekend everyone”.

To which Bruno then responded: “King of assists”.

Trippier looks to be Newcastle’s biggest threat

With Alexander Isak out injured a lot of what Newcastle have created in the last couple of games has come from set-pieces and crosses down the right-hand side from Trippier.

Newcastle don’t necessarily have that creative type midfielder who can pick out a pass from across the pitch so a lot of their game does rely on getting the ball out wide to Trippier to whip it in.

In this recent run of games at least it does appear to be working for Eddie Howe’s men who are now relying heavily on Trippier’s delivery to sustain their attacks.

Of course, there were moments of individual brilliance from Bruno which eventually won Newcastle the game, but it’s Trippier’s consistency that will prove to be so key in the long-term.
