Bruno Guimaraes posts first message to Newcastle fans after completing St. James’ move

Newcastle United’s newest signing Bruno Guimaraes has taken to social media, after officially completing his transfer to St. James’ Park.

The Brazil international is official a Toon player, and is truly a statement signing by the club’s new owners.

Guimaraes joins for a total fee of fee of €50.1 million (£42 million), €8 million of which are add-ons according to The Athletic.

The star has penned a four-and-a-half year deal. He will wear shirt number 39 – which is the number of the taxi once driven by his father.

Guimaraes’ becomes the club’s third signing of the window after Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood.

It is thought that Dan Burn will ne next in. A £13 million fee was agreed with Brighton earlier today.

Guimaraes is a serious coup for Newcastle.

The 24-year-old is seen as someone that can elevate the quality of the Toon midfield significantly. And some fans are very excited to see him link up with his fellow countryman Joelinton, who has found success in the middle of the park recently.

On Guimaraes, manager Eddie Howe said: “Bruno is a hugely exciting talent and has been one of our primary targets so I’m delighted to secure him. He strengthens the group immediately ready for the challenge ahead.

“He has been one of the standout performers in France and is a full international for Brazil so I have no doubt our supporters will really enjoy watching him. We look forward to welcoming him to the club on his return from international duty.”

Guimaraes has now posted on social media after news of his move became official.

He said simply: “Hi @nufc. I’m ready for this new challenge.”

Allan Saint-Maximin has already sent a welcome message to the South American star.

The star is someone that should help Newcastle be much better in possession of the ball.

He has a wonderful passing range, and is someone that looks to break the lines. Not only that, he is certainly more than happy to do the dirty work, and reads the game really well to make key interceptions.

Guimaraes is ready for this new challenge. And Newcastle fans simply cannot wait to watch him embark on it.
