Newcastle United have reportedly agreed a deal with Brighton to sign Dan Burn.
According to Sky Sports, the Magpies have struck an agreement with the Seagulls in the region of £13 million.
The player is reportedly now on the way to St. James’ Park for a medical according to reporter Keith Downie.
It is finally the breakthrough that many fans have been desperate for, following failures over Diego Carlos and Sven Botman.
Newcastle are in desperate need of new centre-backs, and some have been growing increasingly worried about even one coming in before the deadline.
It seems Newcastle will now be landing at least one, with an agreement having been reached with Brighton over the transfer of Burn, who was released by the club as a youngster.
Newcastle had seen bids of £8 million and £10 million turned down for Burn.
But Brighton have now accepted Newcastle’s latest £13 million offer, and hopefully officials can get the deal officially over the line as soon as possisble.
The Athletic report that the club still want another central defender in before tomorrow night’s deadline.
It’s explained that Newcastle moved for Burn because of the fact he has Premier League experience. And that he is also versatile enough to play in the middle and out wide.
Relief for Newcastle as club reach Dan Burn breakthrough
This is a real relief for Newcastle fans.
The club have found it very difficult to bring players in this month, with clubs obviously knowing Newcastle’s new financial situation.

To agree a deal for Burn is fantastic news and hopefully he will be unveiled as a quickly as possible.
But Newcastle must keep working.
Burn is a solid addition. But ideally, Eddie Howe needs to pair him with someone who is a bit more mobile.
