Bruno Guimaraes has ‘trained well’ ahead of Newcastle’s trip to Fulham

Bruno Guimaraes has ‘trained well’ and is in the Newcastle United squad to face Fulham on Saturday.

That’s according to Eddie Howe, who has spoke to the press ahead of his side’s trip to Craven Cottage.

Howe will be able to welcome back some key players, having suffered a bit of an injury crisis in recent weeks. We have lost record signing Alexander Isak, but Callum Wilson is available once again. He feels nailed on to start up front. As for Allan Saint-Maximin, he is close to a return as well.

Bruno actually returned before the international break, but then suffered a setback whilst training with Brazil. It caused panic among Toon fans.

He returned to Tyneside early, and it looks like that decision is going to pay off.

Howe says Bruno has ‘trained well’

Ahead of the game, Howe spoke to the media and was asked about Bruno’s fitness.

“We were concerned for him but he’s [Bruno] come back & the scan was good,” he said.

“He’s trained and he’s trained well. It’s slightly disrupted him because these two weeks were important for his match sharpness but he’s physically fine and in the squad for tomorrow.”

Bruno must start for Newcastle

If he is fit enough to play more than 45 minutes then Bruno must start against Fulham. Hopefully that is the case, and Howe’s assessment sounds encouraging.

We saw Bruno feature in our last game against Bournemouth, playing around 70 minutes. He clearly wasn’t fully fit, but his return was certainly a welcome one. The fact Howe started him shows how important the Brazilian is.

He is arguably the best player at the club, and is the man who makes our midfield tick.

Seeing him in the starting XI will increase our chances of victory against an impressive Fulham side. They have started the season well, and look much more comfortable at Premier League level.

But Newcastle are playing well too – we just need to convert these draws into wins. To do that, we need a fit and firing Bruno Guimaraes. Luckily, it sounds like that will be the case.
