The idea is that Guimaraes can stay at Newcastle for a number of years and help lead the club into Europe where they can establish themselves as a force.
As PSG continue to show, having all the money in the world is not a guarantee of European success as their wait for a first Champions League goes on.
Bruno will want to be on the European stage as soon as possible, but his more immediate focus is getting fit and established in Eddie Howe’s side.
