Bruno Guimaraes delivers message to new Newcastle signing Anthony Gordon

Bruno Guimaraes has delivered a ‘welcome’ message to Newcastle United’s newest signing Anthony Gordon.

The 21-year-old was announced as a Toon player on Sunday, after completing his medial the day prior.

Gordon’s move from Everton to Newcastle cost the Magpies £45million, making him the second most expensive player in the club’s history.

Fans will be eager to see the new signing in action, with his debut likely to come during Saturday’s Premier League clash with West Ham.

Following the move, Gordon has taken to his official Instagram account and delivered a heartfelt message to his former club Everton.

He has posted an open letter about his time at Goodison Park, having joined the club at the age of 11.

Gordon received messages of support from his former Toffees teammates, including Idrissa Gana Gueye and Dwight McNeil.

There was also a reply from Besiktas loanee Dele Alli, who wrote: “Good luck brother.”

Newcastle’s newest signing then posted again, expressing his delight at joining Eddie Howe’s side.

He wrote: “Time for a new chapter. I’ve admired the history and fan base of this club for a long time and I’m so proud for this to be my new home. I want to say thank you to everyone at @nufc and the fans I’ve met so far for the warm welcome. I can’t wait to get going in black and white, see you tomorrow as we cheer the lads on!”

Gordon received a reply from one of his new teammates, and another player he has previously clashed with.

Bruno wrote: “Welcome home mate.”

The Brazilian is one of many Toon players who has had an issue with Gordon in the past. The youngster is a fiery character, and clashed with the likes of Bruno, Kieran Trippier and Fabian Schar last season.

On the club’s official YouTube channel, we saw a glimpse of Gordon meeting his teammates for the first time, and the interactions with Trippier and Schar were brilliant.

And the new signing has received a warm welcome from Bruno, who he will soon be sharing a pitch with in a bid to guide Newcastle into the Champions League.

However, Bruno won’t be playing alongside Gordon tonight. The new recruit is cup-tied, meaning he will be forced to watch his new team from the stands during the Carabao Cup semi final second leg against Southampton.
