Ben Foster makes Jamie Vardy claim that will absolutely baffle Newcastle United fans

Ben Foster believes that a Newcastle United transfer could be an option for Jamie Vardy.

The 38-year-old striker is set to become a free agent this summer, having announced that he will be leaving Leicester City when his contract expires.

This comes at a time when Newcastle United want to sign a striker.

They want more competition for Alexander Isak, with Newcastle interested in Liam Delap.

The 22-year-old will cost £30million due to a relegation release clause in his contract, but Foster has suggested that a more experienced option could present itself to the Magpies.

Ben Foster says Jamie Vardy to Newcastle United would be ‘unreal’

Speaking on the Football Fill-In podcast on his YouTube channel, Foster debated where Vardy will go next as he gets set to call time on his Leicester City career.

Incredibly, Newcastle United were suggested as a possible suitor.

“Could you imagine how much Newcastle fans would love Jamie Vardy ratting around,” he said.

The former goalkeeper then stated that a move to the Championship is not an option for Vardy, before suggesting that he could enjoy a couple of good years in the MLS.

Alternatively, Foster thinks Premier League clubs will be keen on the veteran striker.

Foster added: “There will be 15 Premier League teams you can sign for, take your pick. Newcastle would be unreal.”

However, he then suggested that a move to Tyneside would not suit Vardy for geographical reasons.

Why Paul Mitchell will not sanction Newcastle United move for Jamie Vardy

At the age of 38, it is difficult to envision Newcastle United even considering a move for Vardy, despite the fact he is going to be available on a free transfer.

Paul Mitchell wants to lower the age of Newcastle’s squad, with 33-year-old Callum Wilson at risk of being released as he enters the final few months of his Toon contract.

It would be staggering if Newcastle replaced Wilson with someone who is five years older.

Instead, the Magpies will aim for someone younger who can grow and blossom on Tyneside.

Newcastle are looking at James Wilson, who is an 18-year-old striker playing regularly for Hearts in the Scottish Premiership.

Alternatively, Eddie Howe could give Will Osula more responsibility. The 21-year-old scored his first Premier League goal on Saturday, netting a header in Newcastle’s win over Ipswich Town.
