According to the Telegraph, Newcastle want to sign Axel Tuanzebe from Manchester United this summer.
It was recently claimed by the Athletic that the Magpies could make a move for the Red Devils defender. Now it looks like we will be doing exactly that.
Manchester United are seemingly on the brink of signing a new centre-back, with Raphael Varane reportedly on his way from Real Madrid.
According to the Daily Star, Varane could arrive at Old Trafford for £40million.

It’s a huge signing for Manchester United, and one that could help Newcastle.
The Telegraph claim that Varane’s arrival could allow Tuanzebe to become Steve Bruce’s first signing of the summer.
They add that a permanent deal has been discussed, although a loan move is more likely due to Newcastle’s financial position.
A deal to sign Axel Tuanzebe would be a good move by Newcastle
It was reported earlier by 90min that Manchester United will allow Phil Jones to leave the club for free.
They added that this could interest Newcastle, with Bruce a fan of the 29-year-old.

However, a move for Tuanzebe would be much more positive.
Tuanzebe is only 23-years-old, and has room for improvement. He also hasn’t spent the last two years sat on the sidelines.
The defender played 19 times for Manchester United last season, including an appearance in the Europa League final.
Over the past two seasons, Tuanzebe has made 29 appearances. In contrast, Jones has only made eight.
Tuanzebe has a history with Bruce, with the Toon boss signing him back when he was at Aston Villa.

Bruce clearly wants a centre-back this summer, but has already missed out on the likes of Kristoffer Ajer and William Saliba.
They are both young players who could have improved at Newcastle.
That’s exactly what Tuanzebe can do at St James’ Park. He could have a big future with the Magpies, which is why we must favour a move for him over Phil Jones.
