Newcastle United are in the market for a central defender.
The Magpies have some decent options. But there is room for improvement, and certainly scope to bring in someone slightly younger.

Funds are said to be tight. Loan deals and moves for free agents have been touted.
One man Newcastle should perhaps turn to, is Manchester United star Axel Tuanzebe.
The 23-year-old is reportedly expected to leave Old Trafford on loan this summer.
Tuanzebe is on the fringes at the moment. He made just 19 appearances last term.

He’s clocked up 37 in total for the Red Devils’ first-team.
Steve Bruce has worked with Tuanzebe before, signing him during his time as Aston Villa manager.
That was a decent move for the player. Unfortunately he hasn’t yet been able to force his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI.
Tuanzebe would be a fine addition for Newcastle
Arguably, Tuanzebe is unlucky to have featured so little for Manchester United.
Victor Lindelof has lacked consistency. Eric Bailly has had a number of injuries.
Unfortunately, his own injury problems have not helped matters.
That he’s available for loan though is exciting and could well prompt a fair bit of clamour.

Bruce and Newcastle ought to get involved.
Tuanzebe is quick and strong. Harry Maguire recently stated he is ‘hard as nails’, ‘always in the gym’ and ‘ruthless’.
Surely there’s a decent chance of a move to St. James’ Park, especially given the fact Bruce and Tuanzebe have already worked together.
