Arne Slot is well aware of Newcastle United’s qualities ahead of Wednesday’s game against Liverpool.
Eddie Howe and his players travel to Anfield this week, as Newcastle United aim to strengthen their bid for Champions League qualification.
Newcastle could have Joelinton fit, which would be a major boost with the Carabao Cup final looming.
But even if Joelinton returns, history is against the Magpies. Newcastle have not won a league game at Anfield since April 1994.
They will aim to change that on Wednesday night, and Arne Slot is under no illusions when it comes to the quality of Eddie Howe’s side.

Arne Slot on Newcastle United’s qualities
Ahead of Liverpool vs Newcastle United, Arne Slot has spoken to the media.
The Liverpool manager praised Alexander Isak, while he was also asked about Newcastle scoring four against Nottingham Forest and three against his side back in December.
“They can score goals,” he said.
“They have so much offensive threat and I think normally they’re not a team that concedes so many goals because they are very aggressive in defending as well as I saw in the [Carabao Cup] semi-final they played against Arsenal. Now we all know how well Arsenal is when it comes to attacking – also defending. But they just kept them away from their goal with defending really strong, maybe a bit similar to what we did at City. So defending with 10 or 11 players.
“They can score goals, but they are also able to defend really strong, and that’s what makes them such a difficult team to play against.”
Newcastle United must repeat Arsenal heroics against Liverpool
During the Carabao Cup semi-final win over Arsenal, Newcastle United were faultless at the back.
They did not concede a single goal against Mikel Arteta’s side over 180 minutes, limiting their chances as Newcastle booked their return to Wembley.
While Arsenal had a lot of the ball, Newcastle kept them at bay. They did not give the Gunners a sniff, like a boxer toying with their opponent. Newcastle had already done enough to win, before sitting in and limiting the space that Arsenal could exploit.
The Magpies may need to put in a similar performance on Wednesday night, as they aim to get a positive result against the Premier League leaders.
However, it will be much harder against Liverpool. They have so much more attacking quality than Arsenal, and that is before you even consider they have the best player in the entire Premier League in Mo Salah.
