Anthony Gordon was reunited with his boyhood club on Wednesday as Newcastle United lost to Liverpool.
Earlier this month, Anthony Gordon recalled his time in Liverpool’s academy when he was released aged 11.
He then made the move to Everton, where he broke through before making his £40m move to Newcastle United in 2023.
There were rumours of a return to Merseyside in the summer with reports that Gordon was offered to Liverpool, but the 24-year-old stayed put at St James’ Park.
Gordon’s head was turned by Liverpool interest, but rumours of an Anfield move died down when Gordon signed a long-term contract at Newcastle.

Anthony Gordon sends message to Curtis Jones
Anthony Gordon still shares ties with many Liverpool players from his time at Anfield and with the England squad.
After Newcastle lost 2-0 to Liverpool on Wednesday evening, Gordon jumped on social media to reply to one Liverpool star’s message.
Curtis Jones uploaded a photo of him stood alongside Gordon at Anfield, and the Newcastle star commented “My brother” underneath the post.
Gordon also shared a photo of him and Jones on his own page with the same caption.
Anthony Gordon’s future at Newcastle United is clear
Liverpool missed out on Gordon in the summer, and that is likely the one-and-only chance they had to sign the English winger.
The only reason Gordon was offered to Liverpool was because Newcastle were desperate to raise funds to comply with PSR, but the finances are looking much healthier at St James’ Park approaching the summer.

Howe has told Newcastle chiefs that they cannot afford to lose their best players, and Gordon is certainly in that category alongside the likes of Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali.
After signing his new deal, Gordon made it clear he is set to stay – “I’ve got a long contract here, I intend to see that out, I’ve got no plans of leaving. I’m here to win a trophy,” he said.
