Angry Newcastle United star says one thing is really starting to get on his nerves

So much has been said about Newcastle United in recent weeks and months.

While the early days of the PIF era at Newcastle was all about who was coming into the club, the situation has changed of late.

Indeed, it’s now a case where the potential outgoings are more frequently mentioned across newspaper reports and online gossip columns.

Key stars have reportedly been unsettled at times, knowing they could get paid more elsewhere if they were to join a team more established in the upper echelons of the game.

The likes of Anthony Gordon, Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak are seemingly consistently linked with moves away.

While it is reportedly unlikely that all three will be sold, it clearly isn’t helpful for what Howe is trying to build at St James’ Park.

In fact, Gordon has come out and hit back at some of the reports.

Anthony Gordon isn’t happy with what people are saying about Newcastle right now

Gordon has slammed the idea that players need to leave Newcastle as “rubbish”.

The winger said (via iNews): “Because the club has transitioned so quickly, other fans and other media outlets just pick the players.

“When we play well it’s like ‘He’s got to move from Newcastle’ but that’s not the reality. We’re fifth in the table, we’re a top club ourselves. It’s a load of rubbish really.”

Newcastle have big hopes about Anthony Gordon

Gordon was reportedly tempted by the idea of a move to Liverpool this summer. That obviously does not mean he was actively pushing to leave of course and, frankly, it’s easy to see why given his emotional connection to the city.

Still, he has since signed a new contract at Newcastle and optimism is high. Not long after the announcement, Howe talked of how he expected the winger to get back to his best after the matter of his future was settled.

With one goal and two assists in his last three games, he’s certainly going some way into doing that.

It’s fantastic to hear Gordon talk so bullishly about how good life at Newcastle is. In recent weeks, they really have cut out the noise.
