Almiron explains the major difference at Newcastle since Howe became manager

Miguel Almiron has admitted that the Newcastle United players all feel ‘a little bit better’ now that Eddie Howe is manager.

The 45-year-old replaced Steve Bruce last year, as part of the first major change made by the owners following the takeover.

Howe has enjoyed a remarkable start to life on Tyneside, and currently has his side in third place in the Premier League. They are also in the quarter finals of the Carabao Cup after beating Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

While the investment in new players has helped, Howe’s coaching ability has also made a huge difference. Newcastle are fitter than they have ever been, while the players demonstrate a tactical awareness that makes them hard to beat.

So many players have improved under Howe, and that includes Almiron. He is Newcastle’s top scorer so far this season, finding the net eight times. In contrast, he only scored once last season – although it was an absolute screamer.

Now the Paraguayan has commented on the manager, and explained why he has enjoyed such a sensational upturn in fortunes.

Almiron on the difference under Howe

Almiron has been speaking to the Daily Mail, and was asked about what, or who, has influenced his recent form.

“There have been a lot of changes in my life and at the club,” Almiron said.

“I feel really blessed to have such a lovely partner and a lovely son together. But with Eddie, we all feel a little bit better. He has succeeded in giving us a lot of belief.

“All of this lends itself to, when you’re on the field, feeling yourself, relaxed and at ease. It all helps to increase your confidence, and this is where it leads to.”

Newcastle always improving under Howe

The way Howe has injected a new lease of life into Almiron has been a joy to behold.

Newcastle started the season looking for a new winger, with the likes of Jack Harrison and Moussa Diaby heavily linked.

But one didn’t arrive, forcing Howe to stick with the former Atlanta United man. That hasn’t proved to be an issue, however, with Almiron now playing the best football of his career.

His smile is back – that infectious beaming grin that endeared him to the Toon Army when he arrived in 2019.

That smile had disappeared under Bruce, who didn’t know how to get the best out of Almiron. But Howe knows, and has taken him to a completely new level.

Newcastle have a tactical genius calling the shots, and someone who the likes of Almiron absolutely love playing for.

Long may this love affair on Tyneside continue.
