Allan Saint-Maximin has received a lot of criticism in recent weeks.
The Newcastle number 10 has been nowhere near his best, while he’s also been the centre of transfer speculation.
While he remains a fan favourite, some of his performances have been nowhere near the high standard supporters expect from a player who can win matches on his own.
His dribbling ability cannot be questioned, but his decisions can sometimes leave a lot to be desired. Saint-Maximin has often been found holding onto possession for too long rather than finding a teammate, much to the anger of fans.
But that appeared to change in our last game.

The 25-year-old started on the left wing against Norwich, but eventually swapped positions with Joelinton. Saint-Maximin went through the middle and caused countless problems for the Canaries.
Every time he got on the ball he looked dangerous, and he was actually much better in possession.
Saint-Maximin could rarely be accused of doing too much at Carrow Road. Time and time again he would find a teammate, particularly in dangerous areas. According to Mozo Football, he completed 16 attacking third passes – more than any other Toon player.
He showed much more of a willingness to pass the ball. Ironically, sometimes you just wanted him to go himself.
But it was a much more rounded performance from Saint-Maximin, who got the assist for Joelinton’s opener and was denied a goal himself by a decent Tim Krul save.
After a difficult month or two, Saint-Maximin is finally showing signs of improvement. He was decent against Crystal Palace, spurred on by the incredible Wor Flags display.
He was better again on Saturday, and looked much more like a team player.
Despite the outside noise, there is no doubt that Allan Saint-Maximin’s future belongs at Newcastle United.
