Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin reacts to incredible Wor Flags display

Wor Flags did it again on Wednesday night, paying tribute to Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

Fans in the Gallowgate were instructed to get to their seat early, with gold foils placed on specific seats.

And as the players emerged from the tunnel, those foils became a huge number 10. There was also a new flag – an illustrated picture of Saint-Maximin from the Everton celebrations in February.

It was a wonderful tribute, and the 25-year-old has reacted to what Wor Flags did on Twitter.

Saint-Maxmin will remember Wor Flags display ‘for the rest of my life’

After the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, ASM took to social media to thank fans for what they did.

He wrote on Twitter: “I will never be able to thank you enough for this. I will remember this day for the rest of my life. Thanks for everything.”

The display comes amid a tough run of form for the Frenchman. He hasn’t been great since his return from injury, while a lot has been written about his future at St James’ Park.

But last night’s display sent Saint-Maximin a clear message – we want you to stay.

Unfortunately, the latest Wor Flags creation didn’t inspire him to end his goal drought. He had a couple of efforts, but failed to find the net.

However, it was an improved performance from Saint-Maximin. He got better as the game went on, with Palace unable to lay a glove on him.

He even had time for a bit of dancing. An astonishing moment in first half saw ASM stood on the touchline with the ball doing his best Strictly Come Dancing audition. It received a huge reaction from fans, who simply love the mercurial talent.

Saint-Maximin can be frustrating, but he can also be irresistible. And that’s why he is such an important player for Eddie Howe.

The Wor Flags display was incredible, and certainly meant a lot to our number 10. A fantastic show of support at a time when he needed it most.
