Allan Saint-Maximin posts encouraging video amid Newcastle injury woes

Newcastle United’s Allan Saint-Maximin has uploaded a video to his official Instagram account that suggests he is nearing a return from injury.

The 25-year-old hasn’t been seen since the 1-1 draw with Wolves. The Frenchman picked up a hamstring problem in the game at Molineux, but was able to provide a major contribution.

His stunning volley earned Newcastle a point, and it also won him the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award.

But since then Eddie Howe has been without the mercurial talent. It’s proven to be a problem too, with the Magpies struggling to have much cutting edge in the final third.

Saint-Maximin was a major miss in the 1-1 draw against Bournemouth, with Miguel Almiron and Ryan Fraser struggling to have an impact on the flanks.

And a video on his official Instagram account suggests that an ASM comeback is on the horizon.

Allan Saint-Maximin’s latest video

Throughout his injury, Saint-Maximin has shared updates on social media during his road to recovery. The Newcastle number 10 posted two videos to his Instagram story on Thursday night showing him stepping up his recovery.

In the clip, Saint-Maximin can be seen doing some fitness work with and without the ball. He then does some showboating with a plethora of kick-ups, all the while wearing his Toon kit.

The most encouraging thing is that he’s outside on the grass and working with the ball. That suggests that he isn’t too far away from returning.

The next step will be to see him in official training alongside Eddie Howe and his Newcastle teammates.

It had been reported that Saint-Maximin suffered an injury setback, having previously been in contention to play against West Ham before it was postponed. The Athletic’s Chris Waugh has claimed that he is likely to miss the next game against Fulham before returning.

However, this video will give supporters hope that he can feature at Craven Cottage. Only time will tell, but Toon fans are desperate to see Saint-Maximin back in action. He’s been a huge miss.
