Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak made history against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

The 25-year-old scored twice as Newcastle United beat Nottingham Forest, netting his 20th and 21st goals of the season after four games without finding the net.

The goals mean that Alexander Isak is now the highest scoring Swedish player in Premier League history, overtaking Freddie Ljungberg. The striker has scored 50 Premier League goals since becoming Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever, hitting the milestone in 76 appearances.

Isak was exceptional as Newcastle beat Nottingham Forest, with the Magpies climbing up to fifth in the Premier League table.

Alexander Isak pays tribute to Joe Willock after Newcastle United win

But Isak was not the only star in black and white on Sunday. Lewis Hall was outstanding, while Joe Willock also impressed in the first half.

The £25million midfielder was excellent down that left channel, providing the assist for Isak’s second goal of the afternoon.

Following the game, Willock made sure to praise Isak via his official Instagram account.

He wrote: “Big W. Congrats on 50 Pl goals my bro @alex_isak.”

But Isak did not want to take all of the plaudits, as the Sweden international returned the favour by complimenting Willock’s display.

Isak replied: “Thanks my bro! Top performance.”

Joe Willock could lose his place in Newcastle United XI

After struggling against Manchester City, it was good to see Willock bounce back on Sunday.

He played really well against Nottingham Forest, combining brilliantly with Lewis Hall and Anthony Gordon down the left. Their chemistry caused Forest major problems, and it contributed to the 11-minute blitz that won Newcastle United the game.

But Willock’s performance might not be enough for him to retain his place in the side against Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Sandro Tonali feels poised to return, which will mean that one Newcastle United midfielder needs to be dropped.

It is not going to be Bruno Guimaraes, nor should it be Lewis Miley after his display on Sunday. The 18-year-old was probably the Magpies’ best player after Lewis Hall, as he made his first Premier League start of the season.

Miley’s performance could mean that it is Willock who drops to the bench at Anfield.
