Anthony Gordon has revealed that he wants to become one of the hardest working wingers in the world after another impressive display for Newcastle against Man United.

Gordon has been one of if not the best player for Newcastle this season, but the 22-year-old isn’t satisfied yet and wants to keep growing and improving under Eddie Howe.

Speaking after a big win against Man United, Gordon claimed that he wants to become one of the best wingers in the world who can defend and attack whenever he’s needed.

Anthony Gordon is the epitome of an Eddie Howe team

Newcastle have earned a reputation of being one of the hardest working teams in the Premier League and no one has proven that more than Anthony Gordon this season.

After coming under some criticism since signing for £45m in January, the winger has completely changed everyone’s opinions of him and now wants to focus on being better than ever.

The former Everton man has now added goals and assists to his game and it is becoming harder and harder for the world to ignore just how special of a talent Newcastle have on their hands.

Howe will be overjoyed to hear that his star man only wants to work harder and improve on both sides of the game.

Speaking to NUFCTV, Gordon said: “I’m trying to be consistent now with performing and adding goals and assists. But I’ve said plenty of times that’s not my main focus. I want to be a winger who can do both, run the other way and then going forwards as well. I don’t think there’s many of them and that’s what I want to become.”

Gordon is Newcastle’s star of the season

There have been a number of brilliant performances from Newcastle players this season – the likes of Kieran Trippier, Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes have all been outstanding – and it’s very difficult to pick out who has been the most integral part of the team.

However, it’s not only Gordon’s goals and assists that should be the focus, it’s his energy and his drive that has elevated Newcastle so many times and given the players around him a huge boost in confidence.

The winger is playing at the top of his game now and has slowly but surely started to become one of the best in his position in the entire league.

With the added motivation of trying to work his way into the England team ahead of next summer’s Euro 2024 tournament, there’s no telling just how far Gordon could go, but it is sure to be a special season for the young man and one that every Newcastle fan will remember.
