Much of the Newcastle United squad have reported back for pre-season training.
Indeed, Eddie Howe has been running the rule over at least some of his squad over the past few days, with the likes of Jamal Lewis involved at the training ground.
While there is the small matter of a trip to Japan on the horizon, Newcastle will meet Burnley in a behind-closed-doors friendly, as well as Hull City before jetting off for the Far East.
Obviously, not all of Howe’s squad are back yet due to international competitions, while surely there are still signings to be made.
Still, it is a chance for some of the less-fancied players to make their case to impress the manager.
One of those is Harrison Ashby, who spent last season on loan at Swansea.

Harrison Ashby set for chance to impress Eddie Howe during pre-season
According to The Chronicle, the 22-year-old joined up with his teammates at the training ground for pre-season and is set to be assessed by Howe.
They suggest the right-back, signed for £3m from West Ham in January 2022, will be expected to step up.
There is thought to be a chance on offer for him if he can impress Howe this summer.
Harrison Ashby could benefit from Newcastle selling Kieran Trippier
Howe was keen for Ashby to get regular first-team football last season, though a hamstring injury limited to only 16 appearances for the Swans in the end.
Still, there could be a changing of the guard at Newcastle in terms of right-backs for the coming campaign.
Kieran Trippier, after all, has been strongly linked with a move away from St James’ Park.
While Tino Livramento will surely be the man to replace the England star if he does indeed depart, Ashby and Emil Krafth could feasibly battle it out to support him.
It will be interesting to see what Ashby makes of his pre-season chance.
