Newcastle United could be set to receive a huge injury boost when they take on Fulham at St James’ Park today.
The words ‘injury boost’ are music to the ears of Newcastle United fans right now, who have lost track of the amount of players that Eddie Howe has unavailable at this moment in time.
But we have seen some returns over the past week. Sean Longstaff and Callum Wilson were back against Spurs, while Dan Burn made his comeback on Wednesday after a back injury.
The player who has been out of action the longest is Sven Botman, with the 23-year-old not featuring since Newcastle’s 8-0 win over Sheffield United in September.
The Magpies have played 17 times without the £35million man, who has been out of action due to a knee injury.
It was reported that he was still a couple of weeks away from returning, but a fresh update from the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope hints that he might actually be involved against Fulham today.

Sven Botman could be on the Newcastle bench vs Fulham
Journalist Craig Hope has taken to X to report that Botman has an ‘outside chance’ of being on the bench for Newcastle’s game against Fulham.
He wrote on Friday: “In better injury news for Newcastle, I’m told Sven Botman is nearing a return from knee injury. Outside chance of bench tomorrow.”
What a boost it would be to see Botman named in the Newcastle squad to take on Fulham. His presence has been sorely missed, and we certainly need a lift after a string of disappointing results.
A Botman return will certainly put Jamaal Lascelles under pressure. The 30-year-old has been excellent since returning to the starting XI, but he will know that his days could be numbered if Botman is fully fit once again.
Hopefully it will inspire Lascelles to raise his game even further, as he will be desperate to retain his place in Eddie Howe’s starting lineup.
