Tempers certainly boiled over at the end of Newcastle’s loss to Everton on Thursday night.
After Newcastle proved architects of their own downfall following two mistakes from Kieran Trippier, some of Eddie Howe’s players were involved in a heated exchange with Jordan Pickford.
The England goalkeeper is a villainous figure amongst the Toon support given his Sunderland allegiance and it appeared as if Pickford had taunted the away fans after the game.
As rewarding as that might have been for him, this is not a Newcastle team who will simply let that kind of thing slide.
Indeed, one player was said to be fuming.
Fabian Schar: Newcastle star escorted down the tunnel after arguing with Jordan Pickford
According to The Chronicle, Fabian Schar was particularly angry.
They claim the 31-year-old was so enraged that he had to be escorted down the tunnel after clashing with Pickford on the pitch.
It is claimed Schar sprinted towards Pickford but security staff moved quickly to usher the defender away.

Everton vs Newcastle: A night to forget
Though Newcastle are not immune from criticism just because things have been so good lately, Thursday night’s result is not one to dwell on.
Pretty much the same eleven (Nick Pope excluded) took Paris Saint-Germain all the way before beating Manchester United last week and, at some point, the relentless schedule was always going to catch up.
It was equally as evident in the losses to Bournemouth and Borussia Dortmund after the international break and Newcastle roared back into form following those defeats.
Seeing Pickford gloat will of course not be easy and Anthony Gordon cannot have enjoyed his return to Goodison Park but they must be brushed off.
There are too many important games coming up to dwell all too much on what was just an off-night.
