Steve Bruce’s Newcastle continue to defy football logic.
The Magpies were shocking at Goodison Park, yet somehow salvaged a draw despite being 2-0 down in the 90th minute.
Two goals from super sub Florian Lejeune salvaged a point, including a pretty impressive overhead kick. It was the equaliser that has got fans laughing though, with goal-line technology helping us out.
It initially looked like Jordan Pickford had saved the Frenchman’s shot on the line, but replays showed that the Everton stopper’s arms just weren’t long enough…
The shocking comeback shouldn’t mask a horrendous performance by Newcastle, who’ve got away with robbery tonight. But any chance to laugh at former Sunderland man Pickford is going to be jumped at by Toon fans.
For the second season in a row, Everton have thrown away a 2-0 lead against the Magpies. In the 3-2 win at St James’ Park under Rafa Benitez, Pickford was the source of amusement once again. He played to the crowd and ended the game with egg on his face.
While he wasn’t at the heart of the action in the 2-2 draw, he failed to deliver when it counted.
Bruce’s Magpies continue to buck the trend, and the Toon fans will be laughing at Pickford long into the night.
Jordan Pickford and his arms of questionable length couldn’t stop Florian Lejeune
