Emil Krafth has made it clear he wants to remain a Newcastle United player next season.
But he has also called for more clarity over his future and admitted he knows the club might still sell him.
As per Fotbollskanalen, via the Chronicle, Krafth was asked about his future while on international duty.
The 26-year-old is part of the Sweden squad which topped its group at Euro 2020 and will face Ukraine for a place in the quarter-finals.
“I can assume I will stay,” he said when asked whether he’ll be at Newcastle next season.
“I have two years left on my contract and as it looks now, I am staying 100 per cent.
“Then you know that strange things can happen overnight when it comes to football. But I am thriving at the club and in the city. I really want to stay.”
Krafth has been candid about his future there, especially when you consider that players can tend to straight bat questions about their club careers while they’re away with their countries.
Will Newcastle keep Krafth?
If you’ve got an international player of the right age to have his best years ahead of him, who wants to stay, it’s usually a good idea to keep him.
More than that, it’s usually a good idea to make him feel wanted to the extent he’s not admitting he could be sold in the same breath he’s saying he wants to stay.
Krafth doesn’t pull up any trees but he does his job and he’s a decent squad player.
Players like that are worth keeping around. It remains to be seen what Newcastle will do about his contract, as it enters its final two years.
