Newcastle United have badly missed Joe Willock this season.
It has been a frustrating campaign so far, with injuries not allowing him to kick on after a fantastic 2022/23 season.
So many Newcastle players excelled last season, and Joe Willock was up there with the best. His combinations with Joelinton were pivotal, while we will never forget that assist for Alexander Isak against Tottenham Hotspur.
But his season ended early due to injury, and that brings us back to where we are today. Willock suffered a hamstring injury against Brighton back in April that kept him out for months, then he sustained an Achilles injury just as he was closing in on a return.
By the time he did return, Willock was only able to take part in six games. He got one goal during that time, netting an impressive strike in the 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Manchester United.
However, the 24-year-old then suffered a reoccurrence of that Achilles injury, and has now missed another 13 games. He has been absent for 25 games in total this season, with Toon fans desperate to see him back.

Joe Willock offers encouraging four-word message to Newcastle fans
As supporters eagerly await his return to training, Willock has offered an update via his official Instagram account.
The midfielder posted a video to his story of him putting in the work at the training ground, doing some cardio on the exercise bike alongside Matt Targett – who is also currently out of action due to injury.
Alongside the video, Willock wrote: “On the way back.”
Newcastle desperately need Willock back
Willock has been a huge miss this season, and his absence is massively being felt right now.
Eddie Howe only has three fully fit centre midfielders at the moment, with Joelinton the latest to fall to injury. His season could be over, with the Brazilian seemingly on course to undergo surgery.
It would be a real boost if Willock could return in the coming weeks, as Newcastle look to salvage a season that has shown signs of unravelling as of late.
