Newcastle United have been so unfortunate with injuries as of late, but they may finally be getting some positive news after Jacob Murphy sent a promising message to fans on social media.
Murphy has been unavailable for selection since being withdrawn against Arsenal last month, but Eddie Howe may finally be getting some positive injury news for his depleted Newcastle team.
The 28-year-old took to Instagram last night where he posted a video of himself in the gym working hard on his shoulder with the caption ‘Improving’.
Murphy’s shoulder looks to be healing well
Murphy was known to be suffering with a dislocated shoulder before the Premier League clash against Arsenal but chose to play his part anyway at the risk of further injury.
The £12m signing was brought on as a substitute with Newcastle chasing a victory in a key game. The gamble, however, did not pay off for Howe as the winger dislocated his shoulder yet again and had to be taken off just 10 minutes later.
It then emerged that Murphy’s shoulder would require surgery that they had been trying to avoid, keeping him out for around three months and adding another name to the list of unavailable players at Newcastle.
Now, the attacker has posted a very positive update on his Instagram and it looks like the shoulder is healing very well.

Murphy and others not quite ready to return to Newcastle yet
There’s still a long way to go for Murphy’s recovery and he will likely not return to the team until the new year, but it’s still good to see after Newcastle were swamped with injuries in the last month.
The likes of Dan Burn, who suffered a back injury also against Arsenal, and Nick Pope, who will require the same surgery Murphy had, are not expected back until the new year, which is still a huge blow for Newcastle.
The team, just like they have so far this season, are going to have to find a way to navigate through the busy Christmas period and beyond without some key figures in the side.
They can only hope that they don’t suffer any more outfield injuries with the only replacements currently available being Matt Ritchie, Paul Dummett or having to call up another player from the Under-21s.
