Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes had two reasons to celebrate after the Magpies’ 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Tuesday night.
Firstly, it was a massive three points. No other club has won at Villa Park in the Premier League this season, yet Newcastle went there and did a job on them. It was a wonderful performance, and one that could act as a turning point for Eddie Howe’s side.
Bruno Guimaraes played his part in the victory. While he was quieter than usual in the middle of the park, he was certainly effective.
It was a very disciplined performance from the Brazil international, who is well aware that one more booking will result in a two-game ban. That would be disastrous given Newcastle’s lack of midfielders right now.
But it was a measured display from Bruno, who kept possession brilliantly all night. There were also some outrageous long balls that almost resulted in the Magpies finding the back of the net. It was like prime Jonjo Shelvey.
The 26-year-old did very well at Villa Park, and received a treat for his efforts.

Bruno Guimaraes given Kinder chocolate after Newcastle beat Aston Villa
After the game as the Newcastle players headed down the tunnel, Bruno began speaking to someone next to the dugout. He then gave the spectator his shirt, in exchange for two boxes of Kinder Bueno chocolate.
Bruno could not hide his delight as he headed down the tunnel, roaring ‘yes’ whilst holding up his Italian confectionary.
On the exchange, Peter Crouch told TNT Sports: “I think he’s been duped there. Went in for the chocolates and they asked him for the shirt straight after.”
But this was not just a random gift. It comes after Bruno’s love of Kinder chocolate was revealed in the club’s Amazon Prime documentary that was released last year.
And if good results will lead to more chocolate then we could be about to see Bruno go on the best run of his career! Just do not ask any questions if he suddenly looks a bit more sluggish when he is running.
